winemaker's notes

Fruit hand picked Sept 27/22 from our La Feuille d’Or Vineyard on the Golden Mile Bench in Oliver.

Hand sorted and placed in a small stainless steel tank for fermentation.

Punch down daily until we reach the tannin level we want to achieve then wetting the cap daily as to not extract any harsh unwanted green tannin.  Natural Fermentation started on Oct 4/2022.

Wine went through full malolactic fermentation naturally rounding out the flavours and mouthfeel.

Blended with 25 % Syrah done naturally from our le Vieux Pin Estate wine to balance out the acidity and add some complexity and fruit character.

Racked into a neutral French oak 300-liter barrel to settle and round out the texture, palate, and aromatics.

Racked from barrel and another two times to remove sediment before bottling.

Bottled on March 13/22

Drinking well now with the opportunity to age for 7 years or so. Nice round full-bodied style, well balanced with a nice dark blackberry concentration.
