winemaker's notes

Picked from young vines at Stagg 1 vineyard in south Osoyoos.

Hand Picked on Oct 12/22. Fruit came in very clean with bright spicy notes with balanced tannin and acidity.

Hand Sorted and gravity fed into stainless steel tank. 1.3 tons of fruit

Natural fermentation started on Oct 17th. Punch down daily to a point where the tannins were integrated but not harsh. Then light punch downs and at the end just wetting the cap daily to keep that fresh fruit and balance in the wine without over extracting. Pressed Nov 18/22 with the free run going into a smaller stainless steel tank. Hard Press was used in another wine.

Went through full Malolactic fermentation naturally and transferred to a Neutral 500 liter French oak Puncheon to round out the wine style and allow it to settle.

Racked out of Barrel in February and racked two more times to reduce sediment in the wine before Bottling. No Fining or filtering.

Bottled March 7/22.

Drinking well now and will age well for 5 years or so…Nice light, lively bright fruit and acidity with a green pepper spice.
