2012 was a warm balanced vintage, perfectly uniform grapes, with very little need for sorting. It produced a powerful wine in youth and now with 9 years of age it is a mature wine that is silken, the tannins are perfectly integrated, a subtle mintiness and black currant. This will wow any Italian wine fan.
2014 was another warm vintage in the South Okanagan but with cooler weather in September allowing us to push for better phenolic ripeness without risk of gaining high alcohol. The wines are concentrated, with a very good ripe tannic structure and showing a chiseled frame with lots of natural acidity. This is the vintage with the highest amount of Sangiovese to date. 57% Merlot, 21% Sangiovese, 11% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 11% Cabernet Franc. Still quite youthful with a long life ahead.
2018 2018 is a classic year albeit higher-yielding crop. Not too hot, not too cold. A clean and very low disease pressure year resulting in a bumper crop. Yet with the perfect conditions of September and October, we were able to wait for perfect phenolic maturity while keeping natural alcohol down and healthy PH up. The reds are consistent with lots of freshness. This vintage is still true to its name, grippy and savoury, cigar, pencil shavings, lots of red fruit. The firm tannins are now starting to slowly soften but still have lots of time left in the cellar like its previous incarnations.
